Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev secured his maiden championship for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has had a torrid period, winning just one win at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in specific - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually separating with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.

It is the player's initial championship following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface after March of 2023.

The win also signifies he has won twenty-one championships at 21 distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my both daughters at once, so to secure a trophy is really nice," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, including in that event in the past months.

His defensive strategy and regular reactions on the playing surface had caused observers to question if his ability to compete at the elite level was over.

However the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and play positively, supported by an improved serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the last five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden professional championship, gained dominance to create a final set.

The opponent rescued four early-game break points in a competitive deciding set before the champion won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner clinched the title with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
